CELTA VIGO – BARCELONA Soccer Prediction for Today

Defeating Valencia 2-1 at Camp Nou last Saturday, Barcelona overcame one of their last games in which they are likely to lose a few points. It still has eleven ahead of Atletico Madrid, and the chances of losing this title are almost nothing, even if the next four games on the calendar (transferred to Vigo and La Coruna and then Real Madrid and Villarreal to the Camp Nou) are not really very easy.

Barcelona have inevitably risked a lot against Valencia, and not just at the end of the match. Even in the first half Valencia often came in the door. Only Ter Stegen and Piqué prevented that one goal from Valencia – scored on penal by Parejo just a few minutes from the end of the match – could have come much earlier.

Celta Vigo instead comes from a 1-0 defeat at Leganes, who has probably sealed Celta’s final out of contention for the seats for the next Europa League. There would still be time and way, in theory, but it would still be necessary to make at least five points more than Sevilla or six more than Villarreal (Betis is even more out of reach). Although the Leganes has one of the worst attacks in the league, against the unstable defense of Celta Vigo could have scored at least two more goals.

Celta tends to play in a completely different way, at the Balaidos, and builds more attack actions and more quickly. The defensive distractions, however, remain a constant, and authorize to hypothesize that Barcelona can also overcome this trip without excessive difficulty. Moreover, Celta will miss the full-back Hugo Mallo and the median Pablo Hernandez, who are disqualified. Rakitic will still be missing at Barcelona, and Piqué and Iniesta and Busquets have been given a rest, but they have recently recovered from a recent foot injury.

The probable formations

CELTA VIGO (4-4-2): Sergio Alvarez; Roncaglia, Sergi Gomez, Cabral, Jonny; Radoja, Lobotka, Wass, Pione Sisto; Iago Aspas, Maxi Gomez.
BARCELONA (4-4-2): Ter Stegen; Semedo, Vermaelen, Umtiti, Jordi Alba; Paulinho, Andre Gomes, Denis Suarez, Coutinho; Messi, Dembele.
