On Friday, the South Korean Championship resumes with a meeting between Jeonbuk FC and the Suwon Bluewings. Both teams will want to start their season with a victory.
For a few years now, Jeonbuk FC has asserted itself as the big team of this South Korean championship. Indeed, the club has won 7 of the last 10 editions, the last of which snatched the title on the last day from the nose and beard of the Ulsan Hyundhai. During the offseason, the defending champion played some friendly matches against clubs from Eastern Europe without ever really shining as revealed by his defeats against Dynamo Dresden (3-0) and Steaua Bucharest (3-1 ) and their draws against Lokomotiv Moscow (1-1) and CSKA Sofia (0-0) last January. Then they struggled in the Asian Champions League by losing to Yokohama (1-2) and then drawing against Sydney (2-2) in February.
For their part, the Suwon Bluewings finished the last season in 8th place in the standings with a record of 48 points. But it was in the Cup that the men of Lee-Lim Saeng distinguished themselves by triumphing greatly in the final against Daejeon Korail (4-0) last November. Thanks to this good performance, the club got its ticket to the Asian Champions League. But it was complicated for him since he conceded 2 losses against Vissel Kobe (0-1) and Johor FC (2-1).

Several South Korean internationals are part of the Jeonbuk workforce. We find in particular the frame defender Kim Jin-Su and the circles Kim Bo-kyung and Son Jun-Oh. However, the club lost quite a lot this winter with the departure of its top scorers Ricardo Lopes (11 goals last year) and Seon-Min Moon (10 goals). To compensate for these departures, the club recruited the South African striker Lars Veldwijk (ex Sparta Rotterdam). Despite his 40 years, the striker Dong Gook-Lee is still formidable and remains on a good season with 9 goals scored.
As for the Suwon Bluewings, one of the major figures in the workforce is the Canadian international Doneil Henry (notably by West-Ham). We also find the formidable Australian striker Adam Taggart, very effective last year with 20 goals scored. Also note the arrival in the workforce of the Bosnian striker Krpic.
The match will take place behind closed doors.
The two teams have not played for more than 2 months.
Always formidable in its country, Jeonbuk FC could well start in this championship by winning in front of the Suwon Bluewings at the end of a meeting which could be spectacular.
