This article provides for the game Antwerp vs. Genk a prediction. The starting point for this top game can be found in the table service of the betting base.

The Belgian league is divided into two groups after the regular round of 30 games. The top six fight for the title after a point-sharing. While Royal Antwerp is already eleven points ahead of seventh after a strong season, the reigning title holder from Genk has only had limited success so far.

Sixth in the table, Hannes Wolf’s eleven still have to tremble for the master play-off. Points in the catch-up game would therefore be of great importance, however, the strong Antwerp against Genk is to be favored according to current odds for a tip on the 3-way market.

Antwerp – Statistics & current form

“The Great Old” – the nickname of Royal Antwerp suggests a long club history. The club, founded in 1880, is actually the oldest professional club in Belgium. In the 140-year history of the club, there have been four title wins to celebrate – the last one, however, dates from the 1956/57 season. The great successes were long ago.

Nevertheless, the view of the recent past can be seen as quite positive. The 2019/20 season is only the third year in which Royal Antwerp is playing top-class again. Last season, head coach Laszlo Bölöni’s team reached the champions play-off and thanks to the strong finish they even qualified for the UEFA Europa League. Only in the play-off games did the Belgian club surrender to AZ Alkmaar.

A renewed qualification for Europe would definitely not be a surprise given the performance in the current season. The team has now become established in the top field of the Jupiler League and is particularly strong in front of its home crowd. In eleven home games, 29 out of 33 possible counters were collected. Only in the games against Standard Liège and RSC Anderlecht did the Bölöni team make do with a draw.

The third in the table is not lacking in self-confidence after the strong performances of the past weeks and months. In the last league game against Club Bruges, it suffered a narrow 0-1 defeat. However, this was the first loss since early November. Antwerp had previously played nine league games (six wins, three draws). In addition, the Bölöni team reached the cup final last week, will meet Club Brugge again at the end of March and will have the chance to retaliate.

Genk – Statistics & current form

In mid-November, Belgian champion Hannes Wolf presented as the new head coach. Thanks to the commitment of the former Stuttgart and HSV trainer, the Belgian master yet in the German media came into focus. The current conclusion after a dozen games under Hannes Wolf is by no means exhilarating. Five wins and one draw face a total of six defeats.

No prophet is needed, but Genk will not win another title despite the division of points this season. The focus is on the minimum goal – to qualify for the master play-off.

Six games are still to be completed in the basic round. Genk would currently have the ticket in sixth place in his hand. However, the lead over the pursuers is only three points. With an away win in Antwerp, Genk could take a big step towards play-offs.

This victory would be considered a surprise. This season, the KRC Genk is by no means a top club this season. Only three of the twelve games abroad were designed victorious. In total there were six defeats to deal with. Among other things, it set a violent 1: 4 swatter in the last away game against the KAA Gent.

The many departures at the beginning of the season (Leandro Trossard, Ruslan Malinovskyi or Mbwana Samatta) could not be compensated for. In January the champion also lost the best six of the Belgian league with Sander Berge. Financially, these transfers have paid off in view of the almost 80 million transfer receipts, but the gap left is too great for sporting reasons.

In Antwerp, Hannes Wolf with Bryan Heynen and Ex-St. Pauli-Kicker Mats Möller Daehli will give up two central midfielders due to injury. However, these two failures have no serious effects. Heynen has been out for months, Daehli has only 28 minutes in his legs for his new club after his winter transfer.

Probable lineup of Genk:
➠ Didilion – Uronen, Lucumi, Dewaest, Maehle – Cuesta, Wouters – Bongonda, Hrosovsky, Ito – Onuachu
