What is League of Legends?

Esports bets are becoming increasingly popular. The betting base sees this as an occasion to present the basic features of the well-known classic League of Legends in order to prepare all readers for potential bets as optimally as possible. The focus of this article is primarily the strategic thinking of the game and an introduction to the characters and options to defeat the opponent.

If you are planning Esports Betting, the following article is recommended based on the basics: Esports Betting League of Legends. League of Legends (short: LOL) is a game that is played online. It falls into the MOBA (Multiplayer Battle Arena) category and is a real-time strategy game.

League of Legends: characters & their skills

There are over 120 characters in League of Legends, also called champions. Each champion has four unique skills and one passive ability. These are divided into classes.

Classes

Accordingly, there are different classes in League of Legends. These are: tank, supporter, assassin, magician, gunner and fighter, which are presented below:

Tank: This is English for tanks. These are characters who can take a lot of damage, have high resistances, but do little harm.

Supporter: The term comes from the English and literally means “supporter”. They can provide their team members with various improvements – such as increasing attack or movement speed, giving signs, healing and much more.

Assassin: This class specializes in killing enemy characters in seconds. This class has a very high potential for damage, but you have hardly any resistance yourself and therefore die very easily.

Mages: These are characters that cast spells. It also applies: very high damage output, but low resistance.

Sagittarius: A Sagittarius is a ranged weapon that deals damage from a distance.

Fighter: Is a champion who has a short attack range, can take some damage, but can also distribute it.

As already mentioned above: of course there are not only characters belonging to a class. Usually two to three are mixed together. The effects / peculiarities of the fights are:

The types of damage

There is “attack damage” and there is a certain “ability power”. These two classifications are abbreviated to AD and AP. AD = Attack Damage and AP = Ability Power.

Resistances

The gamer distinguishes magic resistance, life regeneration and life points. Armor blocks part of the AD damage and magic resistance helps against AP damage. Life regeneration is the number of life points that are regenerated per second. Health points are abbreviated to HP for Hit Points or Health Points. If the HP is at zero, the character dies.

Resources

Using a skill costs resources. The resources are: anger, energy, mana, anger, life, savagery and heat. Each of these resources is extracted or charged differently. (There is one exception: the champion “Riven” does not consume any of it.) After using an ability, the so-called “cooldown” follows. This is the amount of time to wait before the same ability can be used again.

Items

The equipment of the characters can be improved. The so-called items can be bought with the currency gold in your own base. Armor, magic resistance, AD, AP, life regeneration, life robbery (recovering part of the AD damage as HP), magic vampire (recovering part of the AP damage as HP), mana regeneration, chance of critical hits (AD damage that critically hits draws the opponent double at HP), movement speed, attack speed and cooldown reduction can be purchased from the dealer in the base.

League of Legends: Game 5 vs. 5

The playing field is divided into two halves, almost identical, each of which is assigned to a team. Depending on the map and game mode, there are several ways from base to base. These paths are commonly referred to as lanes in game jargon. The area between them is summarized as “jungle”. In this there are different, neutral beings that both teams can defeat. Some of these monsters give a champion unique, time-limited, buffs. The field of play is only revealed at the places where a player, a tower, vassal or a so-called “ward” (“eye” -> a one-off object that gives visibility for a limited time) of your own team is located. The rest is hidden in the so-called war fog, which neither team can see.

Two teams of five players compete against each other. The two teams start on opposite sides of the Summoner’s Rift, near the heart of their base, which is called the Nexus. The goal is to destroy the opposing nexus. The Nexus is defended by the opposing team as well as by computer-controlled units (so-called “vassals” in English: Minions) and towers. The vassals are sent in the direction of the opposing nexus and follow the respective “lanes”. You are not walking through the “jungle”. They also attack nearby enemies. In addition to the Nexus, there are three inhibitors. You have to destroy an inhibitor, then two towers that protect the Nexus and then you can attack the opposing Nexus. If you destroy it, you win the game.

By killing vassals, monsters or enemy champions, the characters gain experience and gold. You will reach a higher level (“level”), where you can unlock new skills or improve them. In addition, various basic attributes (attack damage, armor, magic resistance) of the respective champion are improved. A game lasts around 25 to 45 minutes, and it is possible to end a game early by surrender. At least four of the players in the team concerned must agree to this.

League of Legends positions

In modern e-sports there are of course fixed positions for the professionals. In LOL these are: ADC, Support, Top, Mid and Jungler

ADC: ADC is an abbreviation for “Attack Damage Carry”, which is initially played on the lower lane, the botlane. This position is taken over by a ranged fighter who mainly deals attack damage.

Support: This plays together with the ADC on the botlane and protects it. As mentioned above, this gives the ADC various improvements. In short: it protects it and ensures that it can cause damage undisturbed.

Top: This position is played on the top lane, the top lane. Which champ or which class is chosen depends heavily on the team composition.

Mid: You play in the midlane, where magicians or assassins are most often played.

Jungler: The jungler moves in the so-called jungle and helps the other lanes when they need help. He should exert pressure on the opposing players and ensure that the opposing jungler cannot put pressure on his own team.

Conclusion – what is League of Legends?

The previous lines have revealed why League of Legends is so popular: The complexity of the game supports fun, because no duel feels the same.

Accordingly, the search for potential League of Legends bets at betting providers is exciting. With plenty of inside information and a good knowledge of the game, profitable bets are conceivable at any time.
